Lambert-Sigisbert Adam (1700–1759) brought the drama of the Baroque into sculpture through twisting bodies, theatrical movement, and mythological subjects charged with energy. Neptune, Amphitrite, nymphs, tritons, and allegorical figures all appear in work that feels designed to move, even when carved in stone.

His temporary tattoo designs work especially well when focused on isolated figures, expressive poses, flowing drapery, and fragments of mythological sculpture rather than the full monumental compositions.
